Multi-Use Hall in Llevaneres

This project proposes a new public auditorium in Llavaneres that strengthens the connection between existing school buildings, streets, and surrounding public space. Designed as a flexible civic facility, the building is organized around a central multipurpose hall for approximately 300 spectators, with supporting spaces, backstage areas, and annexes arranged around it to ensure smooth operation. Two of the original school volumes are retained, providing additional public and community spaces while allowing the main hall to remain clear and uncluttered. The architecture emphasizes transparency and openness in its public areas, while the main hall is enclosed to control lighting. The building aligns with the surrounding urban fabric, with a sequence of spaces from a prominent pergola and public entrance through lobby and auditorium to service areas, creating a clear hierarchy from public to private. A new landscaped plaza of 865 m² extends the civic space, with shaded areas and tree planting providing a welcoming environment. I worked on early conceptual design, developing a full 3D model that was used to share the project with the client, create visualizations, and discuss design options. I also assisted with construction documentation in plan and section to support a coherent, buildable design.

Location: Sant Andreu de Llavaneres is a coastal town of about 12,000 in the Maresme region of Barcelona province, Catalonia. Set between the Mediterranean Sea and nearby hills, the town’s setting fosters a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

Design Process: Decision to keep two, and demolish two existing buildings to make space for a new multi-use hall, connecting urban space with a public mixed-use architecture on a topographically challenging site.

Multipurpose Space: 3D diagrams illustrate the flexibility of the auditorium, showing six possible seating configurations. These visualizations highlight how the hall can adapt to different events and audience sizes, even by splitting into two separate spaces.
