Abaceria Market Remodellation

The Abaceria Market remodelling by VOL Studio reinterprets a traditional neighborhood market as an open, flexible civic interior that reinforces everyday social life. The architectural strategy clarifies circulation and hierarchy while introducing a coherent system of stalls, light, and material continuity that enhances functionality and spatial legibility. New interventions respect the market’s collective character, balancing robust, service-driven design with moments of openness and encounter. The project positions the market as both infrastructure and public space, where commerce, community, and urban life overlap. I was involved in actualizing drawings throughout the construction of the project, specifically contributing to the coordination and detailed design of the market stalls, focusing on their layout, functionality, and integration within the overall architectural concept. This involved planning, meeting and coordinating with Mercats Barcelona and the Project Managers to ensure each stall met the needs of each independent vendor.
